While the Singapore healthcare system caters well to the masses, Ms Nikita Kanumoory Mandyam and Ms Capucine Barcellona, researchers at the Leadership Institute for Global Health Transformation at NUS’ Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, note that there are still gaps in care for certain vulnerable groups, such as persons with mental health conditions and disabilities, low-income workers, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. As Singapore strives to achieve universal health coverage, the goal should not only be to raise the bar for everyone, but also to equalise the playing field by dedicating special resources to the differentiated health needs of minority communities.
