The Consumers Association of Singapore revealed that there was a 24 per cent increase in prepayment-related losses by consumers from 2022. Given this escalation, Dr Samer Elhajjar from the Department of Marketing at NUS Business School opines that there is an urgent need to strengthen safeguards and increase collaboration among key stakeholders of businesses, regulators and citizens.
