There has been quite a hype over artificial intelligence (AI) platforms such as ChatGPT, especially in Singapore. Carl Skadian, Senior Associate Director at the Middle East Institute at NUS, acknowledges that while the potential of AI applications to do good is great, so is their capacity for harm in the wrong hands. He urges local lawmakers to take a pause and consider setting up of safeguards to regulate AI.
