1. ABOUT PAUL ABISHEGANADEN GRANT
Established in memory of the Singapore music pioneer and Cultural Medallion winner, this grant is awarded to individuals recognized by their peers and the wider arts community for their contribution to performing arts whether in theatre, music or dance. The grant of up to $10,000 enables recipients to pursue short developmental courses to further refine their artistic skills.
2. ELIGIBILITY
The grant is available to all Singaporean current NUS students and alumni who have graduated within the previous 6 years.
3. APPLICATIONS
Applications for the 2023 grant are now open.
Prospective recipients can fill in the application form online, and submit it by 11.59 PM on Sunday, 31 December 2023.

4. ABOUT PAUL ABISHEGANADEN
A distinguished arts pioneer of Singapore for over four decades, the late Paul Abisheganaden’s love for music was matched only by his passion for nurturing young talents. His role in championing music was far-reaching – impacting the University as well as Singapore society at large, and his pioneering spirit as an artist, educator and advocator of student arts on campus led to him being fondly referred to as ‘Singapore’s Grand Old Man of Music’.
Paul Abisheganaden was instrumental in the founding of numerous musical groups across Singapore along with several of NUS’ own performing groups. He was Director of NUS’ Centre for Musical Activities between 1979 and 1993, after which he was a Senior Fellow with the newly established NUS Centre For the Arts.
In the years since his passing, Paul Abisheganaden’s profound impact on the arts at NUS remains evident in the groups he founded and the spirit of enquiry, innovation and adventure continues to permeate our programmes.
