Abstract submissions are now open

The 19th APSSA International Conference Organising Committee invites you to submit an abstract for research, practitioner or case study papers for consideration for inclusion in the conference programme. Abstracts will be selected based on relevance to theme and sub themes of the conference. 

Please review the information below and submit via the Abstract submission portal prior to the deadline (GMT+8/SGT 5pm, 30 June 2024). Selected abstracts presenter(s) will be required to submit a full paper (4,000 words) to be considered for proceedings publication, after the conference. 

The abstract submitted should not exceed 500 words i.e. approximately one (1) MS Word page document, and also include an additional 500-character summary. It should be a concise summary of what will be presented, including a title and the aim of the presentation, key discussion points, and practical implications/ general implications. 

Abstract should: 

  1. be written in 500 words or less and submitted in MS Word or PDF format
  2. include an additional up to 500-character summary
  3. Named as follows: 19thAPSSA2024_Presenter Last Name_Subtheme_Title (e.g. 19thAPSSA2024_Adillo_2_Evaluating the Effectiveness of Support Programmes for Transition)
  4. include the focus of the presentation e.g. research outcomes, provision of practical applications related to student affairs
  5. include background/context, including relevant literature
  6. include description and method of evaluative data collection and analysis
  7. include a summary of conclusion to the paper

  1. First Year Experience- Designing support to facilitate seamless transition 

Keywords: transition theory, factors for successful transition, new environment, managing change, situation of change, adjustments, adoption, integration, first year curriculum, academic transition, students' roles and requirements, transition support services and programmes   

  1. Planning, policies, practice and programmes to optimise holistic student development from entry to graduation  

Keywords: formal curricular integration, holistic education, experiential learning, teaching and learning approaches in holistic education, comprehensive development, curricular activities beyond the classroom, developing passion   

  1. Monitoring/evaluating the level of effective transition and successful learning at University 

Keywords: integration indicators, learning outcomes beyond the classroom, measuring informal learning, coherence in formal-informal learning initiatives, identity development indicators, indicators of holistic development
