NUS encourage our students to embark on overseas experiential learning. We recognise that some students may need financial assistance to participate in overseas programmes. Listed below are funding available for NUS students to apply.

NUS Awards for Study Abroad – NASA Degree Scholarship

The NASA Degree Scholarships are administered by respective Faculty/School. They are available on a competitive basis to full-time undergraduate students who are Singaporeans, Permanent Residents (PR) or Internationals based on academic merit and are going overseas to participate in selected Joint, Double or Concurrent Degree Programmes with overseas universities. This scholarship will be granted based on academic merit and student may receive at most ONE (1) NASA Degree Bursary/Scholarship award during their undergraduate study in NUS. Other terms and conditions may apply.

Student Exchange Programme

Awards & Scholarships Application Information

Baden-Württemberg Scholarship, Germany

The non-profit Landesstiftung foundation was formed from the Landesbeteiligungen Baden-Württemberg GmbH. It fosters charitable projects aimed at promoting the future potential of Baden-Württemberg. The Baden-Württemberg scholarship is offered to selected NUS students who are going to any university in the German State of Baden-Württemberg on student exchange. Its aim is to promote the international exchange of qualified German and non-German students. Selected students will receive scholarship for a minimum of four months and up to a maximum of 11 months ranging from €400 to €800 per month.

The application is by invitation only.

Chinese University Study Award

The Chinese University Study Award (CUSA) is set up to encourage NUS students to go on exchange to the C9 League of Universities (Fudan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University) in China. This is a merit-based award. Each award is valued at S$3,000.    

Application period: 1 June to 31 July
(for SEP in preceding AY) 

DUO - Singapore Exchange Fellowship (DUO) - for outgoing students

The award is for NUS undergraduate students from ASEAN-member countries bound for student exchange programmes at universities in the European Union. The award aims to promote student exchanges between European and Asian ASEM member countries. A total of three successful applicants are awarded €4,000 each annually.

 Application period: 1 Feb till 31 Mar '24

ETH Zurich Student Exchange Award

ETH Zurich offers a monthly award of CHF1,500 (up to 4 months) to one exchange student per semester from selected partners such as NUS. The award can also be split between students, for example: for two students of CHF750 each for 4 months.

All NUS students selected for SEP to ETH Zurich would be considered for the scholarship. ETH Zurich follows up with students selected for the award to inform them about the further procedure only after arrival at ETH Zurich.

Global KU Scholarship, Korea University

Korea University (KU) offers this scholarship in celebration of its centennial in 2005 with the aim to encourage future global leaders to study at KU. New exchange students will be considered for the admission scholarship (valued up to ₩1,600,000) for the first semester or KU Travel Scholarship (valued up to ₩1,500,000) for the first semester. NUS students selected for SEP to KU can apply online directly with KU.

JASSO Scholarship, Japan

The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) offers scholarships to qualified international students accepted by Japanese Universities under the student exchange agreement. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of JP¥80,000 per month, subject to change depending on their yearly financial budget. NUS students selected for SEP to Japan can apply for the scholarship through their host university during their exchange application.

NUS Awards for Study Abroad – NASA Exchange Scholarship

NASA Exchange Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to undergraduate students who are going overseas to participate in Student Exchange Programme (SEP).

1 May to 30 November 2024 for Semester 1, Semester 2 and Full Year SEP in AY2024/2025.

NUS-UBC Exchange Award

This award helps fund NUS and The University of British Columbia (UBC) students on student exchange programmes, co-op internships, research attachments, and international conferences. UBC has been a close partner of NUS and both universities share comparable education standards and similar internationalisation goals.This award affirms the strong ties between NUS and UBC.

Short Term Global Programmes

China Initiatives Steering Committee (CISC) Funding

Funding is available to Singaporean/PR students who are participating in summer research attachments or short-term study programmes (such as international summer programmes) offered by NUS in Mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau.

Please apply on EduRec after accepting the overseas programme offer on the system.

Southeast Asia Experience Award (SEA) Funding

Funding is available to undergraduate students who are participating in global programmes in Southeast Asia.

Funding is available to undergraduate students who are participating in global programmes in India.

Language Immersion Awards

The Language Immersion Awards are managed by the Centre for Language Studies as from AY2015/16. These awards provide for immersive academic and cultural experiences in France or Germany, thereby nurturing the awardees’ interests to pursue further academic endeavors in these two countries.

Sino-Singapore Undergraduate Exchange (SSUE) Programme Award

The award is for NUS undergraduate students who participate in the Sino-Singapore Undergraduate Exchange (SSUE) Programme. The award aims to help offset students’ travel and living expenses for the programme.

Study Trips for Engagement and EnRichment (STEER) Programme Award

The award is for NUS undergraduate students who participate in the Study Trips for Engagement and EnRichment programmes. The award aims to help offset students’ travel and living expenses for the programme.

Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TF LEaRN) Programme @ NUS 2023

With the aim to groom the leader in you, the TF - NUS LEaRN Programme nurtures the next generation of Southeast Asian leaders by providing opportunities for cultural exchange, networking, and leadership development.

Students will receive a financial award of S$800 for return airfare and living expenses in Indonesia. 

Programme fees (Singapore + Indonesia) and Accommodation in Indonesia of S$4,000 are fully sponsored.
