China Initiatives Steering Committee (CISC) Funding

The China Initiatives Steering Committee (CISC) was established to encourage NUS students to participate in overseas short-term programmes (summer/winter/research attachment) in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Quantum

The CISC funding is valued at S$500 or S$1000 per student depending on the programme cost*. The amounts are intended to help offset the costs of programme participation and may not cover all expenses. Student are advised to carefully consider the location and total estimated costs when selecting any overseas programme.

*For programmes costs below S$1,000, NUS Global will request eligible applicants to submit official receipts or supporting documents for programme fee, airfare and accommodation to process the reimbursement.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  • NUS full-time undergraduate students who are selected to participate in any NUS-administered overseas summer, winter and research attachment programmes with at least a minimum duration of 10 days.
  • Students in their final semester of study may apply provided the overseas programme is completed before their conferment dates.

Terms and Conditions

  • Each student may receive at most ONE (1) CISC award during their undergraduate studies at NUS.
  • This award cannot be held concurrently with any other awards for the same overseas programme.
  • NUS reserves the right to vary or amend the terms, conditions and contents of this award application at its sole discretion, with due notice provided to applicants.
  • NUS reserves the right to fully or partially recall the award if the overseas programme is cancelled, suspended, not completed at the host university, or if any award obligations are not fulfilled.

Application Period and Procedure

Students must have received and accepted an existing programme offer via myEduRec by the deadline set by the Programme Administrator. After accepting the programme offer, please proceed to apply for CISC via myEduRec. Please refer to user guide* for the step-by-step instructions. 

* If accessing the user guide from off-campus, students must be connected to the NUS VPN.

Application Outcome and Acceptance of Offer

  • Students will be notified of the application outcome via NUS email. All eligibility criteria must be met before accepting the offer via myEduRec.
  • Upon accepting the award, students must promptly update their 'Receiving Bank Account' (Credit Bank Account) details via myEduRec.
