Harmony In Diversity: A Helix Tour Through Telok Ayer
On 26th February 2025, Helixians embarked on an enriching journey through the historic streets of Telok Ayer and Amoy, immersing themselves in Singapore’s cultural and religious diversity. The 2-hour walking trail provided an up-close experience of significant places of worship, highlighting the harmonious coexistence of different faiths.
The tour featured National Monuments such as the Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church, the Al-Abrar Mosque, Thian Hock Keng Temple, Yu Huang Gong, and the Nagore Dargah. Participants gained insights into the architectural beauty, rich histories, and traditions of these sacred sites. The experience was further enriched with a visit to the Harmony in Diversity Gallery, where Helixians engaged in meaningful discussions on religious inclusivity and interfaith understanding in Singapore.
Beyond the historical and architectural marvels, the event emphasised the importance of cultural appreciation in fostering unity within a diverse society. Many Helixians left the tour with newfound perspectives, inspired by the seamless blend of different cultures and religions that have coexisted in Singapore for centuries.
