The kampung spirit isn’t bound by borders – it’s about building connections wherever we go, according to a recent insightful study by NUS researchers Prof Elaine Ho, Assoc Prof Vincent Chua and Assoc Prof Feng Chen-Chieh. Although Singapore’s policy emphasis to date has been on promoting ageing in place to allow seniors to thrive, the study found that the social networks of seniors are not just confined to their neighbourhoods but extend to other parts of the island.
