Diane is the Chief Legal Officer of the National University of Singapore, having joined the Office of the President as General Counsel in 2004. She played a pivotal role in the setting up of NUS’ Office of Legal Affairs in 2005 as a separate unit of the University, and was its inaugural Head. 

In the span of her career at NUS, Diane has been privileged to play a part in the growth and evolution of both NUS and the autonomous university sector in Singapore, participating in the corporatisation of NUS, and the establishment of the Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore’s flagship graduate-entry medical school, and Yale-NUS College, Singapore’s first liberal arts college. 

Diane was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Pingat Pentadbiran Awam (Perak)) at the 2021 National Day Awards. She was a winner of the 2022 Chief Legal Officer Awards in the Public Sector Category, presented by the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association. 

A seasoned counsel, Diane came to NUS from private practice, and was a partner in Singapore’s oldest law practice, with extensive experience in corporate and commercial, employment and real property law. She also served as Executive Director of a mid-sized law firm, overseeing its human resource, finance, IT and administrative functions. Diane is an alumna of NUS, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree, and is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
