NUS smart sensor decodes fatigue and stress from body signals on the move

Researchers from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering under the College of Design and Engineering at NUS have developed a new AI-powered wearable hydrogel sensor system that continuously and accurately tracks heart signals and blood pressure – key indicators of mental health - throughout daily activities. This breakthrough unlocks seamless, real-time monitoring of mental wellbeing.

Singapore cannot be passive in a volatile world, says Minister K Shanmugam at NUS dialogue

Singapore’s openness to trade, talent and ideas is essential to its national security, said Minister for Home Affairs, Mr K Shanmugam, at the recent Singapore Post-Budget Dialogue organised by the NUS Economics Society. Mr Shanmugam, who is also Coordinating Minister for National Security, addressed about 300 students, underscoring the importance of Singapore remaining a competitive global hub.

The Green Guardian: Asst Prof Tedrick Lew harnesses precision nanotechnology to protect and strengthen plants

At the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the College of Design and Engineering at NUS, Assistant Professor Tedrick Lew, who is also a Presidential Young Professor, leads a multidisciplinary team developing nanotechnology-enabled tools that help plants better withstand a changing climate, from disease pressure to salinity and heat.

Students examine what makes a liveable city at 30th NUS Geography Challenge

Students from the NUS High School of Mathematics and Science yesterday emerged champions of the 30th NUS Geography Challenge, a national competition organised by the Department of Geography at NUS. The milestone edition brought together close to 500 students from over 120 secondary schools across Singapore – the largest participation to date – to examine this year’s theme, "City For Tomorrow: Shaping Our Liveable Future."
