The University Engineering Scholarship (UES) is open to local Polytechnic Diploma holders who are pursuing a full-time Engineering or Technology-related undergraduate programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).


  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Have strong leadership qualities and potential
  • Have good co-curricular activities record
  • Possess outstanding local Polytechnic Diploma (preferably Diploma with Merit)
  • Matriculating into a full-time Engineering or Technology-related undergraduate degree programme at NUS/NTU/SUTD/SIT in the year of application
  • Transfer applicants from local or overseas universities are not eligible

  • Subsidised tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant Subsidy)
  • S$5,800 annual living allowance
  • S$2,000 one-time computer allowance 

  • The scholarship is tenable for the normal candidature period of a full-time Engineering/Computing undergraduate degree programme at NUS, a full-time Engineering/Technology programme at NTU, a full-time Engineering/Technology/Science programme at SIT and a full-time Engineering/Technology programme at SUTD.
  • Scholarship recipients may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award, allowance, waiver or free aid without prior approval from the University.
  • The scholarship will be renewed every semester, provided the scholarship recipient maintains a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.50 (or equivalent), and has good conduct.
  • Scholarship recipients who do not meet the renewal criteria may have their award:
    • conditionally renewed for up to two times before being terminated and liable for liquidated damages, or
    • immediately terminated and liable for liquidated damages if scholarship or candidature is terminated.
  • Scholarship recipients are required to serve a 4-year scholarship bond by working in an Engineering/Technology-related field in Singapore immediately after graduation.
  • If the scholarship recipient decides to withdraw from the University and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the University reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.

  • Selection interview(s) will be held in July. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified for interview(s) via e-mail. To be considered for the award/scholarship, please ensure that you are available to attend the interview(s). Your application will be withdrawn if you are unable to attend any scheduled selection interview(s) without valid reason(s).
