Schemes for Hostel Fees

Residential Programme Bursaries

The Residential Programme Bursaries are made possible by NUS and generous donors to help financially needy full-time undergraduates with their accommodation expenses.

The bursary quantum is at least S$500.

The bursary is offered according to the applicant’s assessed level of financial needs. Re-application is required every year.

Financially needy Singapore Citizen full-time undergraduate students residing in one of the Residential Colleges1 or one of the Halls2/ Houses3/ Residences4.


Recipients of the NUS Merit Scholarship and NUS Faculty Scholarships which do not cover the accommodation expenses are also eligible for this bursary.


1   Only applicable to students reading the College Programme and residing at the Ridge View Residential CollegeResidential College 4, Tembusu CollegeCollege of Alice & Peter TanCinnamon Wing (NUSC) and West Wing College (NUSC).

2   Only applicable to students residing at the Eusoff HallKent Ridge HallKing Edward VII HallRaffles HallSheares Hall, and Temasek Hall.

Only applicable to students residing at the Pioneer HouseLightHouse and Helix House and participating in the House Programme which includes interest groups and events/programmes, or active student leaders and committee members for specific projects.

Only applicable to students residing at the PGP Residence and UTown Residence and participating in the Innovation and Design Programme (iDP), Varsity Athletes Scheme (VAS), Master list and PGPR Cluster Leaders Programme.


Note: Students who are reading the Concurrent Degree Programmes will not be eligible for the bursary once they are charged graduate tuition fee. For more information on the Financial Aid schemes available for graduates, please click here.

   

The recipient must not concurrently hold any other bursary, scholarship, grant or free aid without approval from the University at any time for the same academic year.


The University reserves the right to withdraw the bursary if the recipient is found to be holding a concurrent bursary, scholarship or free aid without approval from the University.


The award is tenable for one year and a fresh application is required each academic year. The bursary will be used to offset the accommodation fees directly if both the accommodation fees and tuition fees are charged. Half of the bursary will be disbursed in Semester 1 and the remainder will be disbursed in Semester 2 of the academic year.

Upon satisfactory compliance with all terms and conditions, funds will be disbursed by the Office of Finance twice a year around September and February each year. All fees due to the University will be deducted from the funds prior to crediting.
