
In view of the outbreak of Nipah virus infectionin West Bengal, India and to reduce the risk of exposure to NiV, the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) advises individuals travelling to affected areas to adopt the following health precautions:
1. Avoid consuming food and drinks contaminated by bats, such as raw date palm sap;
2. Avoid contact with animals (especially bats and pigs);
3. Avoid contact with unwell persons;
4. Consume fully cooked food and;
5. Practice good hygiene
Please inform your doctor if you have travelled to affected areas and developed symptoms during or after your travel as well as any potential exposure to raw date palm sap, bats, or unwell individuals.

University Health Centre will be closed from 1.00pm on Monday, 16 February 2026 (Chinese New Year Eve). Last registration at 12.30pm.
We will resume operations on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
For medical emergencies, please proceed to the A&E unit at the National University Hospital.
