This March, we will bring you a special panel discussion in line with International Women's Day to delve into inspiring inclusion at the workplace.

Event Details

This panel discussion held to mark International Women’s Day 2024 explores the transformative power of inclusion in the workplace. Our diverse group of industry leaders and experts will delve into how organisations can create a culture where every employee feels valued and respected. They will discuss practical strategies for promoting respect as a fundamental component of inclusion, ensuring that all voices are heard and appreciated.

About the speakers:

Ms Renita Sophia Crasta, Head of Legal, TGR Real Estate
(Law ’06, Public Policy ’20)

Renita serves as a legal counsel for a real estate MNC headquartered in Singapore. She was awarded ALB’s Young In-House Counsel of the Year Award 2020, and was a finalist for the Women’s Lawyer of the Year Award 2021.

Beyond her legal work, Renita actively contributes in various professional and community causes. She is currently the co-President of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association where she also leads the Women, Sustainability and Younger Lawyers chapters, and is a member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild. Renita is also a Committee Member of the Eurasian Association Family Support Services committee and sits on the EA Legal Panel, as well as was the founding co-Chairperson of the SINDA Young Adults Community and is a founding taskforce member of the recently formed SINDA Women’s Committee.

Renita also cares deeply for our elderly, women and marginalised communities, including our lower income households and our migrant workers. Some of her women-related initiatives including being part of the founding team of the Young Women’s Leadership Connection Alumni community (having previously been in its committees), a Board member of the recently constituted Women in Sustainability and Environment (WISE), and serving as the Deputy Head (Partnerships) of the PAP Women’s Wing Exco, while also being part of the Nee Soon South Women’s Wing branch. Renita also assists in various MPS sessions, including in particular the legal clinics – and sits as a Board Member on the NUS Pro Bono advisory board and now the NUS Alumni Board.

Mr Dane Lim, Executive Director, Group Human Resources, DBS

At DBS, Dane works with teams across the bank to drive, design and deliver employee experiences across its global network of over 36,000 employees. These experiences include to prepare employees for the future of work, enhance employee wellbeing and build career resilience.

Dane also drives the Diversity Equity & Inclusion agenda, recognising the bank’s diverse talent, their varied experiences and to create an inclusive work environment so that employees can build long-term fulfilling careers at DBS. For the sixth year running, DBS has been named to the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index.

Dane began his career in the teaching service with the Singapore Ministry of Education before immersing into the world of marketing and communications, having worked with the Singapore Tourism Board, American Express, Dubai Corporation for Tourism & Commerce Marketing and the Singapore Economic Development Board where he also held a concurrent appointment as External Affairs Director at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS.

Passionate about the environment and human development, Dane read Development Studies and Environment Science at the University of East Anglia, Norwich UK and he is also an alumnus of NTU, having completed his Postgraduate Diploma with the National Institute of Education.

Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar, Associate Professor (Business, Communication and Design Cluster) and Director, Community Leadership and Social Innovation Centre (CLASIC), Singapore Institute of Technology (Science ’98, NUS Public Policy ’08)

Intan Azura Mokhtar is Associate Professor in the Business, Communication and Design Cluster, and Director of the Community Leadership and Social Innovation Centre (CLASIC) at the Singapore Institute of Technology, which is Singapore’s 5th autonomous university that is focused on applied learning.

Intan has more than 20 years of teaching experience, nineteen years of which are at the university level. Intan has taught courses and modules related to social context and change management; social innovation and sustainable development; community, school and change leadership; educational technology; critical inquiry; and information and media literacy, for both Undergraduate and Masters degree programs, as well as executive programs. Intan has published widely on the above topics and has more than 80 publications to her name.

Intan has been extensively involved in public policy making in Singapore, having been a legislator and Member of Parliament in the 12th and 13th Parliament of Singapore, and Deputy Chairperson of the Singapore Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Education, as well as a member of the GPCs for Manpower and Transport, from 2011-2020.

Dr Yvonne Gao, Principal Investigator, Centre for Quantum Technologies; Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore

Yvonne is a Principal Investigator in the Centre for Quantum Technologies and a Presidential Young Professor in the Department of Physics, National University of Singapore. Her team works on building robust quantum hardware to develop novel techniques for quantum information processing as well as to explore interesting effects in quantum physics.

Yvonne is a recipient of the Singapore Young Scientist Award, Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship, and MIT Tech Review’s Innovator’s Under 35 (Asia-Pacific) award. Since 2023, she started EDIphy, an initiative in the NUS Physics department to provide useful resources and facilitate dialogues on the promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in physical sciences.
