Established during the NUS Centennial Celebrations in 2005, the NUS Alumni Awards celebrate alumni whose achievements and contributions have made a meaningful impact on NUS, society and the world.

The Eminent Alumni Award honours alumni who have attained national or global distinction through exceptional and sustained achievements and contributions in public or community service; the arts, sports, culture or entrepreneurship; or their profession or scholarly field. Nominees should also demonstrate a strong connection to NUS through their support for the University.
The Lifetime Service Award recognises alumni who have made sustained contributions over at least ten years to the success and growth of NUS alumni networks, interest groups and/or volunteer programmes, including internship and mentorship programmes. The contributions should demonstrate meaningful impact and service at the University level, extending beyond efforts limited to a college, faculty, school, department or unit.
The Distinguished Alumni Award recognises alumni who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their chosen field or industry, including significant accomplishments, innovations, or contributions that have made a positive impact on the sector, community, and/or country. Nominees should also demonstrate a strong connection to NUS through their support for the University.
The Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognises alumni below the age of 40 (in 2027) who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields. They may also have rendered excellent volunteer service to NUS and the wider society while exemplifying the best attributes of youth in today's world.
Assesses career excellence, innovation and impact within the nominee’s profession or industry.
Assesses sustained commitment to social good and community impact beyond the nominee’s professional obligations.
Assesses the nominee’s broader influence and recognition by NUS, professional bodies, industry, government or other reputable institutions.
Assesses meaningful voluntary engagement and support provided to NUS and its community.

Yes. NUS staff members who are also alumni are eligible for nomination, provided they meet the relevant award criteria.
All nominations are screened for eligibility and assessed by the NUS Alumni Awards Selection Committee based on professional achievements, service to the wider community, impact and recognition, and contributions to the University. Additional requirements apply to individual award categories where indicated. For example, nominees for the Outstanding Young Alumni Award must be below 40 years of age in 2027.

Selected recipients and their nominators will be informed nearer to the Awards Ceremony. Recipients will be formally recognised at the Ceremony and featured across relevant NUS communications platforms.
The trophy features a human figure and a globe. The figure forms the shape of “NUS”, reflecting the University’s people-centred ethos, while the globe represents NUS as a global knowledge enterprise. The steps at the base symbolise the award recipient’s journey towards success and continued pursuit of excellence.
