Online Policy Forum on the United States, Europe and China: Macroeconomic Developments and Structural Reforms—Diverging Cycles, Distinct Constraints

The macroeconomic outlook across the United States, Europe, and China is increasingly shaped by renewed inflationary pressures, geopolitical shocks, rapid technological change, and intensifying global competition. The overall picture is one of resilience amid divergence: while major economies continue to grow, each confronts a distinct mix of challenges — inflation dynamics, productivity growth, financial stability, competitiveness, and difficult policy trade-offs.

Join our online policy forum co-organised with the National School of Development at Peking University, Harvard Kennedy School, Kiel Institute for the World Economy, and China Finance 40 Forum. The forum comprises two separate briefings tailored to different time zones.

Key Speakers:
  • Prof Alfred Schipke, EAI Director, National University of Singapore
  • Prof Jason Furman, Aetna Professor of the Practice of Economic Policy, Harvard Kennedy School (U.S./Asia Briefing only)
  • Prof Moritz Schularick, President, Kiel Institute for the World Economy (Europe/Asia Briefing only)
  • Prof Yiping Huang, Dean, National School of Development, Peking University
  • Dr Guo Kai, President and Senior Fellow, China Finance 40 Forum and Non-Resident Senior Fellow, EAI.
