Skills to succeed in life and work

In a world of increasing change and disruption, what skills are needed to succeed in life and at work today? Outside of technical hard skills, critical life skills are more important than ever.

Key life skills are broadly categorised by the Ministry of Education, Singapore, into three groups: cognition, character or citizenship and community. Examples of important cognition life skills include innovation and critical thinking, while examples of character life skills include self-awareness and mental resilience as well as personal effectiveness. As for citizenship and community life skills, these include interpersonal and collaboration skills, communication, as well as having a global mindset.
