NERI was delighted to host an inspiring seminar on “Beyond the Oil Age: Catalytic Transformation of Sustainable Chemical Feedstocks” by Prof. Karen Wilson from the Centre for Catalysis & Clean Energy, Griffith University, Australia on 4 Sep 2026.

The seminar explored how catalysis can drive the shift towards more sustainable chemical manufacturing in response to climate change, carbon emissions, and the need to reduce reliance on fossil resources. Prof. Wilson highlighted the importance of treating waste as a valuable resource and adopting circular approaches to produce fuels and chemicals more sustainably.

A key focus of the seminar was the innovation required in catalyst and process design to overcome barriers in converting sustainable feedstocks into liquid transportation fuels and platform chemicals, supporting the transition to a cleaner and more resilient future.

Prof. Wilson’s research interests align closely with NERI’s focus on sustainable energy, green chemistry, and resource circularity, and we look forward to exploring further opportunities for collaboration in these areas.
