Empowering Safety, Inspiring Wellness:
Highlights from NERI Safety & Wellness Day 2026!
On September 3rd, the NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) held its 2nd annual Safety & Wellness Day! Guided by this year’s theme, "Empowering Safety, Inspiring Wellness," our staff and researchers stepped away from the labs to focus on emergency preparedness, teamwork, and well-being.
Here is a look at what we achieved together:
🛡️ Building Lifesaving Skills with SCDF
In partnership with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) through the Responders Plus Programme, our team rolled up their sleeves for hands-on, practical emergency response training.
- CPR & AED Mastery: Participants learned essential CPR techniques and automated external defibrillator (AED) usage, gaining the skill and confidence to step up during cardiac emergencies.
- First Aid & Bandaging: Hands-on practice with wound dressing and bandaging ensured our team is ready to manage injuries effectively.
- Fire Safety in Action: Everyone got direct practice operating fire extinguishers to handle controlled blazes safely.
🌿 Recharging & Connecting at HortPark
Safety is a shared responsibility, but wellness is at the heart of our collective success. After the intense training sessions, the team gathered for lunch at HortPark. Surrounded by greenery, the team had a well-deserved chance to unwind, recharge, and strengthen bonds across research teams, including a chance to win attractive prizes in a mini quiz.
A big thank you to everyone who participated, learned, and made the day memorable! Here’s to a safer, healthier, and more connected NERI community.
