Pay day for research scholars falls on the 18th of each month. However, if the 18th falls on a weekend, public holiday, eve of Chinese New Year / Hari Raya Puasa / Deepavali, the pay day will be brought forward to an earlier working day.

The stipend paid is for a calendar month, i.e. from the first day of the month to the last day of the month.

If your research scholarship award status and Receiving Bank Account details are updated in your Student Account by 5th of the month, you should receive the stipend payment on the 18th of the month. Otherwise, your first month’s stipend will be paid together with the following month’s stipend.

The stipend is computed on a pro-rated basis based on the number of working days in the month (excluding Saturday and Sunday but including Public Holiday). For example, if the date of registration of the Research Scholarship Agreement is stated as 15th of January 2018, the stipend will be computed as 13/23 days x monthly stipend amount.

Miscellaneous Student Fees, if applicable, will be deducted from your monthly stipend at the beginning of each semester, i.e. in January and August. For more information, please refer to the Registrar’s Office webpage at https://nus.edu.sg/registrar/docs/default-source/administrative-policies-procedures/gd-msf.pdf?sfvrsn=c57b6be7_50.
