GERAK (lit: to move<\/em>) began from NUS Centre for the Arts (CFA)\u2019s interest to foster a deeper culture of learning and documentation of the arts in Singapore. It is also part of a thread that Ilsa Tari has established over the years in encouraging more dialogue concerning the role of Malay dance in society.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Presented by NUS CFA<\/a> and Ilsa Tari<\/a>, the GERAK Symposium intended to provide a space for discussions and explorations on the evolving role of Malay dance in Singapore today. The Symposium was held on the 18th – 19th February 2023 at NUS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 1<\/strong> of the Symposium looked at the subject matter and the type of content being expressed through Malay dance performances in Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2<\/strong> of the Symposium looked at the potential use of Malay dance in other sectors such as social services, healthcare, and wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GERAK became a space where people met, talked, and shared ideas and concerns around Malay dance. We captured these conversations through the documentations you find on this website so that they may be picked up and continue to live on one day through other projects, works or research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tentang GERAK<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

GERAK merupakan usaha Pusat Seni NUS (CFA) memupuk budaya pembelajaran dan pendokumenan terhadap bidang seni di Singapura. GERAK juga sejajar dengan kecenderungan NUS Ilsa Tari dalam memupuk pembicaraan dalam kalangan aktivis seni berkenaan peranan tarian Melayu dalam masyarakat hari ini.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Simposium GERAK, yang telah dihasilkan oleh CFA<\/a> dan NUS Ilsa Tari<\/a>, menyediakan ruang untuk perbincangan dan penerokaan, khususnya mengenai peranan tarian Melayu yang semakin berkembang di Singapura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hari pertama<\/strong> (18 Februari) memberi fokus kepada bahan pelajaran dan jenis kandungan yang telah dikupas dalam pementasan tarian Melayu di Singapura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hari kedua<\/strong> (19 Februari) pula membicarakan tentang keupayaan tarian Melayu menjadi pelengkap kepada usaha sektor lain; misalnya dalam bidang perkhidmatan sosial, penjagaan kesihatan dan kesejahteraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melalui portal GERAK, hasil perbincangan ini telah kami rakamkan menerusi rencana yang disediakan, supaya boleh terus dikupas dan diterapkan dalam karya, program atau kajian mendatang. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ayuh kita teruskan semangat dan usaha meng-GERAK wacana tarian Melayu ke hadapan!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
