Work-Study Assistance

The Work-Study Assistance Scheme may be offered as a component of the financial aid package to needy students. The scheme enables needy students to supplement their finances through part-time work and helps students minimize their debts servicing burden upon graduation. Below are terms and conditions of the scheme:

  • Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student, regardless of nationality.
  • Applicant must be a recipient of the financial aid package from NUS.
  • An international applicant must not work more than 16 hours per week during term time.
  • Applicant’s participation under the scheme is for only one year. Continued participation will depend on the assessed eligibility of the applicant based on fresh application for financial aid each year.

Please note: An applicant opting for the Work-Study Assistance Scheme may seek on/off-campus job opportunities through the NUS TalentConnect website. The website also provides details on the NUS Student Work Scheme (NSWS) which is aimed to encourage NUS students to be self-reliant and to gain some working experience on campus. The Office of Financial Aid does not arrange for the job placement but applicants may generate the Work-Study Priority Consideration letter from the Undergraduate Financial Aid Portal, a letter certifying the applicant’s eligibility under the Scheme for priority consideration by the prospective employer. To allow time for adjustment to new student life in NUS, first year international students are advised not to take up part-time employment during the first semester of study.
