NUS student mentors have become not only learning guides, but role models who help children believe in themselves and rediscover the joy of learning.<\/p><p>At <strong>Huamin Primary<\/strong>, teachers witnessed this heart-work up close. They shared how the mentors, \u201cconsistently demonstrated responsibility, empathy, and forward-thinking in their work with our at-risk students.\u201d What stood out most was their genuine care &#8211; from connecting deeply with students to writing personalised notes for each child. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to believe this was simply a course requirement,\u201d a teacher reflected. \u201cIt reaffirms the saying, \u2018it takes a village to raise a child.\u2019\u201d<\/p><p>At <strong>Jurong Primary<\/strong>, the impact was just as tangible. Teachers saw \u201cnotable improvements in students\u2019 confidence, communication, and motivation toward school,\u201d describing how the mentorship created \u201ca more inclusive and caring atmosphere within our school community.\u201d<\/p><p>This spirit of joy and connection echoed across schools. At <strong>Fernvale Primary<\/strong>, the students grew so invested in the programme that some at risk of long-term absenteeism began showing up to school on Teach SG days. That same sense of anticipation could be felt at <strong>South View Primary<\/strong>, where students \u201cwait eagerly near the school gate\u201d for their mentors every Friday. AI-generated (AI-Know).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8da0968 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8da0968\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>For schools like <strong>Punggol Cove Primary<\/strong>, where many mentees come from vulnerable backgrounds, the mentors\u2019 encouragement meant even more. \u201cTheir encouragement has motivated these students to do well,\u201d teachers shared. \u201cThe workshops taught them about growth mindset and resilience, and we saw them grow in confidence.\u201d When mentors shared their own life experiences, students found new hope &#8211; \u201cto aspire and dream for the future.\u201d <br \/><br \/>Behind these stories lies a foundation of trust and teamwork. <strong>North Spring Primary<\/strong> described the partnership as one \u201cmarked by genuine care, purposeful planning, and a shared goal of supporting students\u2019 growth both academically and personally.\u201d <strong>Woodlands Secondary<\/strong> appreciated its flexibility: \u201cThe programme was not cast in stone; it could be customised to suit our students\u2019 needs.\u201d And at <strong>Brighton Connection Student Care Centre<\/strong>, teachers commended the mentors\u2019 initiative and adaptability in \u201cthoughtfully tailoring sessions to meet students\u2019 needs.\u201d<\/p><p>Across all these schools and student care centres, one theme shines through &#8211; that when education is grounded in empathy, creativity, and care, it creates ripples far beyond the classroom. Through playful activities, enrichment sessions, and heartfelt mentorship, NUS mentors have not only supported learning but also nurtured confidence, curiosity, and courage.<\/p><p>As one partner from Huamin Primary beautifully reflected, \u201c[The mentors\u2019] heart-work deserves to be shared within the NUS community as an inspiring example of what it means to give back meaningfully\u2026 It is
