The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a multidisciplinary, practice-oriented degree designed for professionals seeking to advance their expertise in population health. Emphasising self-directed learning, the programme builds on students’ prior experience and equips them with essential competencies to address public health challenges locally and globally.

The MPH curriculum is rigorous and interactive, requiring active participation and a commitment to academic excellence. Curriculum structure and requirements

All students are required to complete 50 units of prescribed courses.

Students are required to complete 26 units of core courses, including a Practicum project. The remaining units are fulfilled by elective courses.

Residency requirements and candidature

The MPH programme is offered on both full-time and part-time basis.

Students can complete the degree with a normal/ minimum of 12 months of full-time study or 24 months of part-time study. The maximum candidature periods are 2 years for full-time study and 4 years for part-time study respectively.

Continuation and graduation requirements

A student pursuing a Master’s degree by coursework must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.00 to be eligible for graduation.

To continue in a Master’s programme, a student may not have:

• GPA below 3.00 (but ≥ 2.50) for three consecutive semesters; or
• GPA below 2.50 for two consecutive semesters.

Assessment modes / Examination rules

Students’ performance will be assessed through a combination of examinations and continuous assessments. The Board of Examiners will govern all assessments.

Assessment can be based on tutorials, laboratories, projects, reports, as well as mid-term and final examinations.

The Master of Science in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (MScHEOR) is a specialised, industry-aligned degree designed for professionals seeking to master the complexities of value-based healthcare. Emphasising a blend of technical rigor and practical application, the programme builds on students' analytical backgrounds to equip them with the competencies required to evaluate medical technologies and optimise resource allocation in diverse healthcare settings.

The MScHEOR curriculum is intensive and forward-looking, demanding a high level of engagement with advanced methodologies such as economic modelling and patient-reported outcomes. Students are empowered to customise their academic experience to suit their specific career trajectories, supported by a network of expert faculty and industry practitioners who provide mentorship in health technology assessment (HTA), market access, and policy-making.

As healthcare systems worldwide face growing fiscal pressures, the MScHEOR programme equips students with a multidisciplinary foundation in health economics, data science, and clinical research to support sustainable, evidence-informed health solutions. Students must complete 40 units of prescribed courses, comprising 24 units of core courses, including a Capstone project, and 16 units of elective courses.

The MScHEOR programme is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis. The normal candidature period is 12 months for full-time study and 24 months for part-time study. The maximum candidature period is 2 years for full-time study and 4 years for part-time study.

To continue in a Master’s programme, a student may not have:

The Graduate Diploma in Public Health (GDPH) programme aims to support the evolving needs of our nation’s healthcare landscape.

The GDPH is a programme designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of public health. It provides a foundational knowledge of public health concepts and practices, as well as an appreciation of the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in promoting health and preventing disease.

The interdisciplinary nature of public health means that it intersects with many other fields, including healthcare, social services, education, data science, and the environment. Professionals in these fields can benefit from an understanding of public health principles and practices to integrate public health considerations more effectively into their work and make a greater impact on the health and well-being of their clients and communities.

The Graduate Diploma in Public Health (GDPH) is offered on a part-time basis only. Students are expected to complete the programme within 18 months.

Continuation and graduation requirements

The minimum GPA for fulfillment of award of Graduate Diploma in Public Health is at least 2.5 or higher.

Students’ performance will be assessed through a combination of examinations and continuous assessments. The Board of Examiners will govern all assessments.
