It is conceived as an opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge and competencies by pursuing a second Major alongside their primary Major. The Second Major affords a significant degree of depth, although its unit requirement is set below that of the Major. The Second Major is a non-Honours major and may be taken in the same Faculty that offers the Major or from a different Faculty.<\/p>\n<p>For students admitted prior to AY2014\/2015, the unit requirements for a Second Major is at least 48 units, of which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to 8 units may be used to meet the requirements for both the Second Major and the Faculty\/Major\/Minor requirements; and<\/li>\n<li>At least 16 units must be at Level 3000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For students admitted from AY2014\/2015 to AY2018\/2019, the unit requirements for a Second Major is at least 48 units, of which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to 16 units may be used to meet the requirements for both the Second Major and the Faculty\/Major\/Minor requirements <em>(<u>Note<\/u>: for double-counting towards a Minor, only a maximum of 8 units are allowed)<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>At least 16 units must be at Level 3000; and<\/li>\n<li>A minimum 60% of the Second Major requirements must be earned from courses read in NUS. Courses read at NUS include all courses taught, co-taught, supervised or co-supervised by US faculty member(s). These consist of graded courses or courses with an &#8216;S&#8217; or &#8216;CS&#8217; grade. The remaining units may be earned through credit transfers, advanced placement and exemptions, from courses deemed relevant to the particular Second Major.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For students admitted from AY2019\/2020 onwards, the unit requirement for a Second Major is at least 40 units, of which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to 16 units (40% of the unit requirements for a Second Major) may be double counted and used to meet (i) the Second Major requirement and (ii) another requirement, e.g., General Education (only for students admitted from AY2021\/2022 onwards), <ins cite=\"mailto:Yee%20Lim\" datetime=\"2021-11-22T17:02\"><\/ins>College (e.g., Common Curriculum), Faculty, Major, Second Major, Minor, Specialisation or other requirement, i.e., at least 24 units of the Second Major must be distinct and not overlapping<\/li>\n<li>At least 12 units must be at Level 3000; and<\/li>\n<li>A minimum 60% of the Second Major requirements must be earned from courses read in NUS. Courses read at NUS include all courses taught, co-taught, supervised or co-supervised by NUS faculty members. These consist of graded courses or courses with an &#8216;S&#8217; or &#8216;CS&#8217; grade.
