On December 12, 2024, NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) and Frontier Lab had the privilege of hosting an enlightening seminar by Associate Professor Shogo Kumagai from Tohoku University, Japan.<\/p>\n
Prof. Kumagai, who is also an editor for the Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis, shared his extensive expertise on the latest trends in waste plastic recycling and chemical recycling technologies. His research focuses on developing innovative recycling solutions and advancing the field of pyrolysis for polymeric materials, including plastics, lignocellulosic biomass, and petroleum.<\/p>\nDuring the seminar, Prof. Kumagai highlighted:
\n\u2022 Recent advancements in plastic production and waste recycling technologies.
\n\u2022 Pyrolytic techniques for extracting valuable chemical feedstock from waste plastics and biomass.
\n\u2022 The use of pyrolysis-gas chromatography (Py-GC) in enhancing pyrolytic recycling processes.
\n\u2022 Innovative chemical separation methods for recycling challenging waste types, such as copper and polyvinyl chloride coatings from waste thin cables.\n
This seminar provided invaluable insights into cutting-edge recycling technologies, contributing to a more sustainable future. We are grateful to Prof. Kumagai for sharing his knowledge and inspiring us to continue exploring innovative solutions in waste management and recycling.<\/p>\n
