NERI Safety and Wellness Day 2025 (25 Sep 2025)
In celebration of NUS’s 120th anniversary, NERI launched its very first combined Safety and Wellness Day, an essential yearly reminder that workplace safety safeguards not only our physical health but also our mental and emotional well-being.
Prof Sanjay Swarup, NERI Director, giving an opening address
In the opening address, NERI Director Assoc. Prof. Sanjay Swarup highlighted how identifying and managing hazards helps maintain manageable workloads, encourages psychological safety, and reduces stress and burnout.
Dr. Lim Cheh Peng from ORMC giving a talk on safety culture
We were honoured to have Dr. Lim Cheh Peng from ORMC at the event, who highlighted the key principles of a resilient Safety Culture. Her talk sparked meaningful discussions about trust, accountability, and everyday safe behaviours.
NERI staff and researchers then tested their knowledge in the NERI Safety Showdown - congratulations to the prize winners!
Team 1 to Team 8
In the spirit of wellness, the teams stepped away from offices and laboratories to explore the NUS campus as part of the NUS 120 Landmark Challenge, setting out to identify 120 NUS landmarks in celebration of #NUS120. The energy was infectious: you could feel team spirit, curiosity, and excitement at every stop. It was a refreshing break, a chance to recharge, and a reminder that physical activity, fresh air, and connection are essential for well-being. Kudos to the teams who completed the challenge and to our winners who took home exciting prizes.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and made the first Safety & Wellness Day a successful and special one.
