Commercialising Technological Innovation
Successfully piloted by NUS Enterprise in 2013, the Lean Launchpad Singapore (LLP Singapore) programme is modelled after the highly successful US National Science Foundation I-Corps programme, now widely adopted by leading universities in the US.
LLP Singapore focuses on helping teams discover and validate the commercialisation potential of their innovation and aims to enhance the pipeline of early stage technologies through the form of commercially viable products, licensed technologies and high-tech spin-offs.
Through 10 weeks of experiential learning in customer discovery based on the lean methodology, LLP has impacted researchers, PhD / MBA students and entrepreneurs where participants have demonstrated changed mindsets with positive impact in new knowledge gained & increased confidence in identifying which of several different pathways to commercialisation to pursue. Teams could move on to further technology translation, Proof of Concept development, packaging for licensing, or starting up a company. LLP graduating teams are eligible to apply for a travel grant of up to SGD$10,000 to support further market validation and pursue market opportunities overseas.
Over the years, the programme has supported over 200 early stage project teams comprising more than 800 participants from NUS and other Institutes of Higher Learning across Singapore.
