He is particularly interested in wildlife-vehicle collision interactions in relation to habitat fragmentation and degraded ecological connectivity. In addition, he is keen to explore herpetofauna-vehicle collisions in the region to understand better the spread and movement of herps around disturbed and developing areas.\n<b><u>Biography<\/u><\/b>\nKannan is currently a PhD student at CNCS&#8217;s Lab for Advancing Protection of biodiversity with Innovative Solutions (LAPIS). Before this, he was a full-time teaching assistant with the Department of Biological Sciences and the College of Humanities and Sciences; with the latter, he taught scientific thinking and empirical analysis through interdisciplinary workshops, lab practicals, and lectures. Kannan is also President of the Herpetological Society of Singapore and a member of the Vertebrate Study Group (Nature Society Singapore), and an active member of the greater nature community in Singapore, lending his voice and expertise to discussions concerning conservation, policymaking, and research.
