It brings practitioners and researchers together to document biodiversity and exchange knowledge that informs conservation strategies and solutions across Southeast Asia. Together,\u00a0we’re working to protect one of Earth’s most biodiverse-yet most threatened-regions.<\/h3>\n

The Conservation Hopes campaign was officially launched with its first project, the\u00a0Doi<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Tung Bioblitz<\/em><\/strong>, held on 11 – 18 October 2025,\u00a0which centred\u00a0on\u00a0a collaboration\u00a0between\u00a0the Mae Fah Luang Foundation\u00a0and\u00a0NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions (CNCS). This partnership\u00a0emerged\u00a0through a series of progressively deepening engagements that began with an introductory meeting at CNCS in August 2024, where both teams\u00a0identified\u00a0a strong alignment in nature-based solutions, biodiversity monitoring, and forest restoration. CNCS was invited to visit the Doi Tung Development Project in February 2025 to explore joint research on biodiversity and carbon integrity in restored landscapes, leading to the co-creation of the Doi Tung Bioblitz\u00a0(DTBB).<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0DTBB\u00a0combined traditional field surveys with\u00a0cutting-edge\u00a0methods such\u00a0as\u00a0environmental DNA (eDNA) and bioacoustics\u00a0to rapidly document biodiversity across reforested and agroforestry landscapes within the\u00a0Doi Tung Development Project (DTDP)(opens in new tab)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0adjacent\u00a0watersheds.\u00a0The research team included taxonomic experts from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, NUS postgraduate students, and members of the Herpetological Society of Singapore, working hand in hand with the local Thai field team.
