Please note:

  • PhD candidates in a four-year programme generally take ES5002 in the fourth year of their candidature (i.e. term 7 or term 8). PhD candidates in a five-year programme generally take ES5002 in the fifth year of their candidature (i.e. term 9 or term 10). Students in their third year of study in a four -year programme (i.e. term 6) or in their fourth year of study in a five-year programme (i.e. term 8) may also apply by writing in to the Course Coordinator but they will be considered only on a case-by-case basis and they should already be at the stage of writing their thesis.

  • It is the responsibility of third-year students in a four-year program or fourth year students in a five-year program to notify CELC if they anticipate completing the final year of their doctoral studies outside Singapore. This is necessary so that special consideration may be given to their registration. Any such notification must be supported by a letter from the PhD supervisor. Students who have not done ES5002 by the end of their doctoral work may still need to return to Singapore just to complete this course and their graduation may be delayed. Please note that ES5002 is not conducted in the special term.

  • Students who are planning to go on vacation leave, home leave or conference leave during the semester are strongly advised to take the module in a later term when they do not need to miss any lesson.

  • CELC reserves the right to defer any student who provides inaccurate information in his/her registration form or any student who has unsatisfactory attendance even if s/he is already registered with the course.
