PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN VIRTUAL WORKPLACE COMMUNICATION

Covid-19 has disrupted the way we work and communicate.  Employees have had to adapt to telecommuting within a very short time. We have also seen that it is possible to get much, if not all, of our work done remotely.   As countries gradually emerge from months of lock downs, telecommuting is expected to stay.  In navigating this new normal, it is essential for employees to learn how to communicate effectively on virtual platforms where interpersonal skills are demonstrated, team meetings and collaborations take place, presentations are made, and email communication continue to play a crucial role.  This professional certificate comprises four short courses on these pertinent communication skills with a particular focus on virtual communication to help employees communicate more effectively in the transformed workplace.

Telecommuting is expected to be widely adopted in the new normal post Covid-19 lockdown. The virtual environment presents unique challenges to presenters who are used to speaking in the physical presence of a live audience. In a virtual environment, a speaker’s audience engagement strategies through eye contact, gestures, and proximity to a live audience are limited. To further compound the challenge, the lack of visual responses and feedback from virtual audiences can be daunting for even a seasoned speaker. This course aims to teach participants strategies for engaging and connecting with the virtual audience.
