Event Details

One of the biggest concerns with the Internet of Things (IoT) is ensuring that networks, data and devices are secure. The rise of 5G has also been projected as a catalyst in driving the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), IoT and Robotics. Our speakers will share their insights on:

  • Use cases of 5G in IoT technology and autonomous systems; and
  • Security considerations to enhance IoT security.


Dr Nicholas Ho (Engineering '13)
Lecturer and Consultant, Artificial Intelligence Practice
Institute of Systems Science, NUS

As the Lecturer and Consultant of the Artificial Intelligence Practice at NUS-ISS, Nicholas focuses on Robotics and Internet-of-Things (IoT). He received his BEng and PhD degree from School of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. His area of expertise revolves around state-of-the-art Industrial 4.0 technologies, which includes Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR). Prior to joining ISS, he spent a number of years in research, where he assisted in the development of cutting edge CPS and IoT technologies, a novel VR training system, and ground breaking optimisation models for bio fabrication applications.

Mr Ng Kok Leong (Computing '99)
Senior Lecturer and Consultant, Digital Strategy and Leadership Practice
Institute of Systems Science, NUS

Kok Leong had 25 years of industry experience before going full-time academic in 2019. Prior to joining NUS-ISS, he held the position of Deputy Director in a public listed company overseeing both IT security and IT infrastructure. He has also worked in a system integrator and a government agency. In NUS-ISS, Kok Leong’s teaching and research focus are on cybersecurity. The security subjects he teaches include Cloud Security, IoT Security, Security Architecture and Information Systems Security. He continues to align with the industry through projects, speaking engagements and curriculum development.
