Flowers and Birds


Pan Gongshou, 1741 - 1794 Hanging scroll, colour on paper, 131cm by 62cm, Qing, 18th Century. A brace of pheasants in gorgeous plume, resting on rockwork among peony blossoms and under a flowering magnolia tree. The artist, in his own inscription, acknowledges having been inspired by a similar painting by the famous court artist, Jiang Tingxi (1699 - 1732).
