Composite materials are super lightweight and high-strength materials which are being increasingly used in products ranging from aircrafts (the latest Boeing 787 and Airbus 38) to sport equipment (eg: racing bikes, high-end tennis rackets, fishing rods, etc). The talk will deal with the different types of composite materials, their characteristics and their use.

Acupuncture – the NUH Experience

Acupuncture and electroacupuncture (EA) as complementary and alternative medicine have been accepted worldwide mainly for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. This lecture summarises the research base, probable mechanism of actions, and clinical applications of acupuncture. It will offer a deeper understanding of appropriate conditions for which acupuncture may be useful, outlines how to integrate acupuncture into a clinical practice, and describes referral and training issues.
