Assessment & Counselling
The first session is an assessment which helps the counsellor or psychologist to determine the needs of the student and to develop a plan that would most benefit the student.

The plan may include short-term individual, couple, family, and / or group counselling at CPS.  Our professional staff can assist on a range of difficulties and issues, such as relationship problems, academic concerns, low self-esteem, grief and bereavement. Students who are feeling depressed, anxious, and/or are struggling with addictive behaviors or eating concerns can also seek counselling.  We also provide referrals to the Health Service for medical consultations, and to other longer-term and more specialized services off-campus.

Confidentiality
Counsellors abide by a confidentiality policy to create a safe and private space where clients can share openly their lives.

Exceptions to this practice are when students give written consent to reveal information or when there is a need to protect the client or others from serious harm.
