01. Can faculty members and administrative staff go to CPS for counselling?
All NUS students have access to the services offered by CPS.
Counselling services for NUS staff are available through an employee assistance programme via Centre for Effective Living(CEL).
CEL provides up to 5 free session for staff members.
Staff may like to contact 6338 3383 or email eap@livingeffectively.com to make an appointment.
02. I’ve been told that CPS handles all on-campus housing appeals. Is that true?
Students seeking reconsideration for NUS accommodations should approach the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) for any housing appeals and/or applications.
03. I also heard that in order to take a Leave of Absence, I have to talk to a
counsellor/psychologist. Is that true?
Students should talk to officers at their Dean’s Office regarding his/her application for an LOA.
For medical LOAs, faculties/departments will request for the student to be assessed by a psychiatrist at UHS. In such cases student can consult
Counsellor/Psychologist at CPS for a referral to a UHS psychiatrist.
04. Are faculty staff trained to provide any counselling or support for students?
Selected faculty staff under the CARE (Caring Action in Response to an Emergency) Network are trained by CPS’ counsellors/psychologists or external professionals in managing students who may be facing a crisis. They are also trained to provide practical and emotional support to colleagues and students in need. You may like to approach your respective faculty to enquire more about your respective CARE members.
