01. Where is CPS located?

CPS is located within NUS’ Kent Ridge Campus and at the University Health Centre, Level 2.
The University Health Centre is located opposite of the Yusof Ishak House and beside the Staff Club.

Public buses and NUS’ internal shuttle bus services stop at the bus stop conveniently located at the front of the building.

02. What are your opening hours?

CPS is open Mondays ~ Thursdays, 8:30am ~ 6:00pm and, Fridays from 8:30am ~ 5:30pm.
We’re closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

03. Can I contact a counsellor/psychologist after office hours?

For life threatening psychological emergencies 6516 7777, a 24-hour phone line manned by counsellors/psychologists is accessible to all NUS students/staff.
04. How do I contact CPS?

Students may call, e-mail or walk-in to make an appointment to consult a counsellor or psychologist.
05. Who are the staff of CPS and are there differences between a psychiatrist, psychologist and counsellor?

CPS consists of both local and international staff members. Our counsellors and psychologists have at least a Master level degree in psychology, counselling, or a related field. Click here to view our staff profile.

There is no difference between the assessment and counselling provided by psychologists and counsellors at CPS. The difference in designation reflects the training and qualifications of the CPS staff.
06. What services does CPS offer?

Our primary offering is an assessment of needs. Based on the initial assessment, we refer students for counselling, groups or medical services.

Short-term individual, couple and group counselling are provided here for concerns ranging from, but not limited to, adjustment and relationship problems to anxiety and depression.

Aside from providing direct therapeutic services, CPS offers personal development programmes designed to facilitate students’ emotional growth and personal effectiveness. Students can attend our many talks, workshops and groups that are available throughout the semester.
07. Who can have access to the services offered by CPS?

All NUS students have access to the services offered by CPS.

Counselling services for NUS staff are available through an employee assistance programme via Centre for Effective Living(CEL).
CEL provides up to 5 free session for staff members.

08. Are CPS’ services free of charge?

Yes. Counselling sessions and CPS programmes are free for all current NUS students.

Workshops and programmes are specially designed for our students and often popular. We encourage students to follow-through with your commitment to these activities once you’ve registered for it. If you are unable to attend, do inform the office. This will allow us to provide your space to another well-deserving student.
