Space Committee
Introduction
SPACE stands for Space Planning, Allocation and Capital Evaluation. As the name suggests, the Committee supports the vision and mission of the University through optimal planning, funding and management of its buildings, related infrastructure and associated space. It oversees and reviews of space needs and capital investment in buildings and related infrastructure needed to support the University’s strategic directions and initiatives and achieve its academic mission.Chaired by NUS President, SPACE Committee meets monthly to resolve strategic space and capital budgeting matters from academic, research & technology and administration support perspective. Together with Office of Resource Planning (ORP), SPM plays a part as the secretariat of the Committee providing recommendation to the Senior Management on space planning.
SPACE Committee also supports CPDC (Campus Planning and Development Committee), which is a sub-committee of NUS BOT (Board of Trustees). This Committee is empowered with funding approving authority of up to S$10 million. If the funding required is more than S$10 million, SPACE will provide necessary recommendation for CPDC consideration and to BOT members respectively, should the Capital Project costs more than S$100 million.
