Outstanding Educator Award

The Outstanding Educator Award (OEA) is given out annually to acknowledge faculty members who have excelled in engaging and inspiring students in their discovery of knowledge.

The OEA carries a cash award as well as an education-related grant which is intended to enable the awardee to engage in activities that will support and enhance his/her role as an educator and contribute to teaching/learning at NUS. These activities include:

  • Developing courseware/new instructional materials
  • Engaging in classroom/action research
  • Taking education courses
  • Attending education conferences
  • Undertaking an attachment to some teaching/learning centre abroad that is strong in an area that the person is interested in e.g., distance delivery and Problem-Based Learning

All OEA nominees should be faculty members (full-time or part-time*) and should also be current faculty teaching award winners. In addition, they should have taught for at least three years preceding the award and nominations must be accompanied with supporting student feedback and peer review reports. Past OEA award recipients are not eligible for nomination for five years following the year of their award.

Another award to recognise excellent teaching for a given year is the Annual Teaching Excellence Award (ATEA).

    * denotes:
