The Academy Masterclass Speaker Series was first mooted by the 1st Executive Council of the NUS Teaching Academy in 2009. The plan is to bring a person of international eminence in education for the following purposes:
- To enhance the TA’s external visibility as an enterprise that sees value in educational research and practices research-based education.
- To facilitate the exchange of ideas, expertise and perspectives in education, policies, pedagogy and innovations with TA fellows, faculty members and the university administration.
- To catalyse an internal culture of research-based education and educational research.
Prof Lee Shulman, Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education Emeritus at Stanford University and President Emeritus of the Carnegie Foundation, was the Academy’s inaugural Masterclass Speaker.
