NUS Publishing looks after academic publishing at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Its main activity is the operation of NUS Press Pte Ltd and Singapore University Press Pte Ltd (SUP). NUS Publishing NUS Press Pte Ltd In 2002, the President, NUS, Prof Shih Choon Fong, approved a new investment plan for the university press, a plan which will allow for a modest expansion of the Press' output, and which will require that the press focus its efforts on:
All the University Press books must be approved by a Publishing Committee, drawn from the ranks of the academic staff at the National University of Singapore. The Press is currently managed by A/P Paul Kratoska. Singapore University Press was formally established in 1971. Prior to this, it published books under the imprint of the University of Malaya Press for the University of Malaya in Singapore (founded 1949) and the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur (founded in 1959). When the two divisions of the University of Malaya separated to become two universities, steps were taken to establish separate university presses. Thus was Singapore University Press formed. In 2006, NUS Press was created to align the Press closer to university's overall branding. Ridge Books NUS Publishing |
