Review Timeline

Important Notice

Important Notice: With the Human Biomedical Research Act (HBRA) coming into full effect on 1 Nov 2018, the NUS-IRB has been in the midst of a massive ongoing exercise to ensure all NUS human biomedical research (HBR) are compliant to the HBRA. Failure to comply with the regulatory requirements would result in fines or imprisonment or both, subject to the nature of the offence.

With the new law and regulations, the NUS-IRB has implemented a 1-year validity approval period for all HBR conducted in NUS. All Social, Behavioural and Educational Research (SBER) will have a 1-year or 3-year validity approval period, depending on the risk of the research study. These changes resulted in a major increase in protocol amendment applications and reviewing of study status reports (SSR) for renewal of IRB approval validity period. Researchers are strongly advised to plan and submit their IRB applications well in advance in anticipation of the long processing queue.
