Welcome Message

We are deeply honoured that you have chosen to pursue your degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS). On behalf of the NUS, I am pleased to welcome you to the NUS family.

The NUS is a leading global university comprising 37,000 students and nearly 5,000 faculty members and researchers across 16 Faculties and Schools. Some 20% of our undergraduates, 70% of the graduate students and half of the university’s professors come from over 100 countries overseas. This milieu of talents collectively creates a vibrant and cosmopolitan campus environment that is rich in diversity, and truly a microcosm of the global workplace.

An NUS education will accord you with many opportunities within and beyond the classroom to acquire knowledge, to develop your interests and inclinations, and to stretch your potential, all within a nurturing and conducive learning environment. Through the course of an NUS education, you will emerge as an able global citizen, competent, confident and ready to make a mark and contribute to society.

At the NUS, we take exceptional pride in delivering an education that is intellectually rigourous, yet flexible, holistic and transformative. The university is continually improving and expanding on our educational offerings: we have introduced many interesting options and differentiated academic pathways that you can pursue. Choose from the many major and minor combinations, double, joint or concurrent degrees offered, some of which are in collaboration with a partner university. You could also explore spending a semester abroad at one of our partner universities, or perhaps, a work and study stint at one of the NUS Overseas Colleges.

To help you plan and map out your academic journey, we have prepared this NUS Bulletin 2012/2013 that serves to guide you as you explore options and pathways. This bulletin contains essential information on the range of degrees offered and their corresponding graduating requirements; I hope you will find it useful.

Let me once again congratulate you on your admission and welcome you to the NUS family. Your adventure at the NUS has just begun, and I am sure there will be many exciting and enriching experiences to come. I wish you every success as you embark on this new journey.

Best Wishes

Professor Tan Eng Chye
Provost and Deputy President (Academic Affairs)
