L & M Geotechnic Medal and Book Prize
Donated in 1997 by L & M Geotechnic Pte Ltd, a gold medal and book prize are awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000 to the best graduate in Geotechnical Engineering modules in the examination leading to the degree of Master of Science (Civil Engineering).
- Subject to rule 2 below, the medal and book prize will be awarded annually by the Board of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- The book prize, which will be paid from the balance of the proceeds available after the purchase of the gold medal will be in the form of book vouchers.
- If no award is made in any year, the funds available will be added to capital sum.

L C Lien Dental Clinic Gold Medal in Orthodontics
Donated in 1994 by L C Lien Dental Clinic, a gold medal is awarded annually from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000 to the most outstanding student in Orthodontics for the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
- The medal will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners. In considering the award, the Board should take into account the student's performance in all clinical, written and laboratory assessments assigned during the course of study.
- No award will be made unless the Board of Undergraduate Studies is satisfied that there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- If no award is made in any year, the funds available will be added to the capital sum.

Langdon & Seah (Singapore) Medal
Donated by Langdon & Seah (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a gold medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $30,000. The medal will be awarded to a student in the Bachelor of Science (Project and Facilities Management) programme with effect from AY2009/10.
The award is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to Rule 3 below, a gold medal is awarded to a student from each graduating year in the Bachelor of Science (Project and Facilities Management) programme who has obtained at least a second class upper honours degree and achieved the highest combined average grade point, at the first attempt for the following:
• PF3201 Measurement (Specialist Works)
• PF2202 Cost Estimating/PF2108 Project Cost Management
• PF4102/PF4201 Contract and Procurement Management
• PF4203 Project Dispute Management
- In case of a tie, the following break-tie criteria shall apply: (i) highest CAP; and failing which, (ii) the number of A+, A and A- obtained throughout course of study will be considered.
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- The medal will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.

Lee Foundation Gold Medal in Chinese Studies
In 2001, the Department of Chinese Studies allocated $15,000 to establish a gold medal dedicated to the Lee Foundation. The sum of $15,000 was allocated from the surplus of donations received for the international conference on Confucianism and World Civilizations organized by the department in 1997, in which the Lee Foundation was one of the major donors. The gold medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000.
The university award is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 3 below, the medal will be awarded to the best graduate in the Master of Arts in Chinese Studies (research programme) or the Doctor of Philosophy in Chinese Studies.
- The medal will be awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Chinese Studies.
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- If there is no award made in any year, the funds available will be added to the capital sum.

Lee Foundation Medal

- Subject to rule 3 below, the medal will be awarded to the top graduating student who has obtained an Honours degree in Life Sciences in the area of concentration of Molecular and Cell Biology in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Examination.

Lee Foundation Medals in Nursing
The Lee Foundation has pledged an expendable amount of S$4 million to the Alice Lee
Centre for Nursing Studies (ACLNS) in December 2012. The gift will be used to support student, academic and research programmes in the ALCNS. A sum of S$50,000 has been set aside for the establishment of this award. The award will be given annually and is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 3 below, a gold medal will be awarded to the best graduating student in each of the following programmes:
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (Honours)
- Master of Nursing
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- The awards will be awarded by the Board of Graduate/Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners.
- In the event that there being more than one candidate of equal merit, the Board of Examiners will take into consideration the performance of candidates during the year of study in addition to their research project results.

Lee Foundation Prize
Donated in 1998 by the Lee Foundation, a cash prize, valued at $200, is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000. The award is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 3 below, the prize is awarded to the best Master of Social Sciences student, in the Department of Sociology’s research programme, with the highest CAP score, of at least 4.00.
- Eligible students will be those who have completed required coursework (i.e. 4 modules) in a given year.
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- If there are candidates of equal merit, the award will be equally divided between them.
- Students with module exemptions will not be eligible for the prize.
- The award will be made by the Board of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
- If no award is made in any year, the income generated will be added to the capital sum.
- This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

Lee Foundation Professionalism Prize
Lee Foundation has pledged an expendable amount of S$50,000 to award the Lee Foundation Professionalism Prize. Five awards are available every academic year at S$1,000 each, to be presented to one student from each year of study. The award at S$1,000 comprises a book prize of $750 and a cash award of $250. The award is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 3 below, the prize shall be awarded to one student from each year of study who is selected by the Professionalism Prize Committee based on the following terms:
- Nominee should be of good academic standing
- No negative entries in his/her personal file
- May call for confidential referee’s report(s): the report will be checked for any significant points to support qualities of *Professionalism
- The student nominees will be requested to provide a one page reflective report highlighting his/her achievements and activities promoting social/peer development, other extracurricular and academic achievements. He/she will also provide two names as referees to the Committee.
- No award shall be made if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
- Awardees will not be eligible for consideration for the same award in subsequent years.
- The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies (BUS) on the recommendation of the Professionalism Prize Committee. The Chair and Committee members will be appointed by Vice-Dean, Education.

Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal
The Chinese Newspapers Division of Singapore Press Holdings and Sony Systems Design International Pte Ltd jointly produced a CD-ROM on the then Senior Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew in 1995. With the consent of the Mr Lee, the net proceeds from the sale of 100 gold-plated CD-ROM and 20,000 copies of the CD-ROM together with a transit link farecard were donated to the Universities Endowment Fund in 1996 for the purpose of instituting awards of the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medals.
- The proceeds from the capital sum will be used to award gold medals to the best performing graduates throughout the course of study for the following programmes:

Donated in 2001 by the Senior Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew from the sale of his memoirs, two prizes are awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $65,758.72.

- Subject to rule 3 below, the prizes are awarded one each to the best student for the degree of Master in Public Management and the degree of Master in Public Policy.

- The award winners will each receive a cash prize of $1,000 and a plaque.

Lee Kwok Hong Memorial Medal and Prize
Established in 2005, the Lee Kwok Hong Memorial Medal and Prize is in memory of the late Dr. Lee Kwok Hong for his services and contributions to the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. The late Dr. Lee Kwok Hong joined the Department in 1984.
The award is funded from the proceeds of a capital sum of S$31,000 donated by colleagues and friends of Dr. Lee. The award will be made under the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 4 below, a gold medal and prize will be made to a full-time student graduating with a degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering), who has obtained the highest aggregate marks in the areas of dynamics and computational mechanics. The list of subjects to be aggregated for the medal and prize will be decided upon by the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
- The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
- In the event of there being more than one candidate of equal merit, the Board of Examiners will take into consideration the performance of the candidates throughout the course of study.
- No award shall be made unless the Board of Undergraduate Studies is satisfied that there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- Accumulated income in excess of requirement will be added to the principal sum.

Leong Teng Kiang Memorial Prize in Mathematics
Established in 1974 by members of the Department of Mathematics in memory of Dr Leong Teng Kiang, a student and, later, a lecturer in the Department, a cash prize is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $1,000.
- Subject to there being a candidate of sufficient merit, the prize will be awarded annually to the best student in Mathematics, who has obtained First Class Honours in the examination leading to the degree of B.Sc. with Honours.
- The award is made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the appropriate Board of Examiners.
- If no award is made in any year, the funds available will be added to the principal sum.
- It will not be obligatory to the Board of Undergraduate Studies to award in any one year the whole of the income of that year or of any accumulated income.
- If, in any year, there are two or more candidates meriting the award, the Board of Examiners may recommend to the Board of Undergraduate Studies the manner in which the income or accumulated income may be distributed.

Leow Chia Heng Prize
Arising from the settlement of the estate of the late Mr Leow Chia Heng, the High Court of the State of Singapore ordered that the balance of a fund intended for charitable purposes be paid to the National University of Singapore to provide an annual cash prize to be called the 'Leow Chia Heng Prize' to be awarded by the University to undergraduates or graduates of the Faculty of Law.
- Subject to rules 2 and 5 below, the prize shall be awarded each year by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Faculty of Law to the candidate gaining first place in the Final Examination for the degree of LL.B.
- If, in any year, in the opinion of the Board of Undergraduate Studies, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no award shall be made.
- The accumulated income thus available shall be carried forward for award in any year or years following.
- It shall not be obligatory to the Board of Undergraduate Studies to award in any one year the whole of the income of that year or of any accumulated income.
- If, in any year, there are two or more suitable candidates meriting the award in the same class, it shall be open to the Faculty of Law to recommend to the Board of Undergraduate Studies that the income or accumulated income available be distributed wholly or in part to such candidates.
- A recommendation for the award of the prize shall be made by the Faculty at the meeting at which the report of the Board of Examiners for the Final LL.B. Examination is received.

Leslie Wong Memorial Medal
Established in 1970 in memory of the late Professor Leslie G. J. Wong, former Visiting Professor of Business Administration, the gold medal is awarded annually from the proceeds of the Leslie Wong Memorial Fund to the best student awarded First Class Honours in Business Administration in the School of Business.
The medal will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the appropriate Board of Examiners.

Leslie Wong Prizes in Business Administration
Instituted in 1970, the Leslie Wong Prize in Business Administration was initially valued at $50. This was awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $30,000 which was donated by friends of the late Professor Leslie G. J. Wong. In 1993, the Faculty of Business Administration donated $10,000 specifically to increase the value of the book prize to $250.
- Subject to rule 2 below, the prize is awarded annually by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners to a student in the School of Business who has passed the Bachelor of Business Administration III Examination and who is first in general proficiency throughout the complete course of study.
- No award will be made unless the Board of Undergraduate Studies is satisfied that there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
- The prize will be in the form of book vouchers.

Libby Tin Peh Medal
The Libby Tin Peh Medal will be awarded annually as follows:
- Subject to rule 3 below, the award will be given to the best graduating student of the Master of Nursing programme.
- Each award consists of a gold medal.

- The award will be awarded by the Board of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.

Donated in 1985 by Lijen Industrial Development Pte Ltd, the medals are awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $10,000. In 1998 the award was extended to deserving students from the School of Computing when it was formed.
- Subject to there being candidates of sufficient merit, the medals will be awarded to the honours year students with the best academic exercises/projects in each of the disciplines in the Faculty of Science and to deserving students in Bachelor of Computing (Honours) - Computer Science programme.
- The medals will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners for the Honours Examinations in the Faculty of Science and the School of Computing.
- The number of medals available for award in any one year will depend on the proceeds from the capital sum. If in any year, the number of awards should be insufficient for distribution amongst the disciplines in the Faculty, the Board of Examiners will select the most deserving candidates after taking into consideration their performance in the Honours examination.

Lim Chin Kuan Prize
Donated in 2003 by Ms Valerie Lim and Dr. Ann Lee in memory of their father, Mr. Lim Chin Kuan (1922-1982), a book prize, Lim Chin Kuan Prize, will be awarded from the capital sum of S$15,000, to the best student of each intake in the Master of Science (Coursework) in Chemistry Course. The late Mr. Lim Chin Kuan was the first Master of Science graduate in Chemistry from the University of Malaya (Singapore) in 1950, who became an outstanding Analytical Chemist in this region.
The award is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 4 below, the book prize will be awarded to the best student in the Master of Science (Coursework) in Chemistry course, who has successfully completed and fulfilled the requirements of this course. As there are up to two intakes for the course in an academic year and students can graduate at the end of both semesters, up to two awards can be made in the same year.
- Each award will be in the form of a book voucher of value of S$500.
- The book prize will be awarded by the Board of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.

Lim Chong Yah Gold Medal
A sum of $16,000 was donated anonymously in 1994 to the Department of Economics and Statistics to establish the Lim Chong Yah Book Prize for award to the best candidate completing the course for the degree of Master of Social Sciences in Applied Economics. In 1997, the book prize was converted to the Lim Chong Yah Gold Medal.
- The award of the medal will be made by Board of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
- No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit. If in any year there are, in the opinion of the Board of Graduate Studies, two or more candidates of equal merit, the Board of Graduate Studies may award such additional prizes as may be appropriate, subject to funds being available for this purpose.
- If no award is made in any year, the funds available will be added to the capital sum.

Lim Soo Peng Book Prizes
Two book prizes, valued at $50 each, have been donated by Mr Lim Soo Peng for award on the results of the Science II Examination for the degree of Bachelor of Science.

- one to the best student in Mathematics; and
- one to the best student in the Computer Science stream.

Established in 1968 in memory of the late Professor Lim Tay Boh, Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Economics, the gold medal is awarded annually from the proceeds of the Lim Tay Boh Memorial Fund to the best Final Year student in Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
The medal shall be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the appropriate Board of Examiners.

Loh Fun Chee Medal in Clinical Dentistry
Donated in 1997 by Dr Loh Fun Chee, a gold medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000. In 2003, it was agreed that a book prize may be awarded.
The award is governed by the following conditions:
- Subject to rule 4 below, the medal will be awarded to the best student with distinction in Clinical Dentistry in the Final Professional Bachelor of Dental Surgery Examination.
- In the event that no student is eligible for a medal award a book prize may be awarded to the student who obtains the highest mark and an 'A' grade for the subject.
- The medal is awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Boards of Examiners.

Lucien Wong Prize
In 2003, Ms Chew Gek Khim (Class of 1984) donated an expendable sum of $15,000 to be given as the Lucien Wong Prize, to the student who has performed the best in Corporate Finance Law in the academic year. When the Prize was established in 2003, Lucien Wong (Class of 1978) was the managing partner of Allen & Gledhill.
- All students who are registered for Corporate Finance Law in a given academic year are eligible to receive the Prize. If in any academic year no subject entitled Corporate Finance Law is offered, the Dean may recommend that the Prize be awarded to the student who performs the best in a related subject in corporate law.
- The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty of Law, who shall make a recommendation after reviewing the reports of the relevant Boards of Examiners and consulting the Convener of the subject.
- In assessing students for the award of the Prize, the Dean may consider not only the student’s final grade in the subject, but also his or her performance in class work, assignments and other continuous assessment exercises that are not taken into account in determining the final grade in the subject.
- If in any year there is, in the opinion of the Dean, more than one candidate meriting the Prize, the Dean may recommend that the Prize be awarded to the best two candidates. The Dean shall also recommend what share of the $500 prize should be awarded to each of the candidates.
- The amount of the Prize in the form of book voucher shall be $500 per year. The Prize of $500 per year shall continue until such time as the funds have been expended.
- This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.
