Halbrecht Associates Prize

First donated in 1985 by Mr Herbert Halbrecht, the Halbrecht Associates Book Prize was awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of S$3,000 to the second top student in the Bachelor of Computing (Honours) – Computer Engineering programme.

In 2009, following the merger of the Bachelor of Computing (Honours) – Computer Engineering programme and the Bachelor of Engineering ‐ Computer Engineering programme, the proceeds of this capital sum which will be used for the award of a cash prize.

1. Subject to rule 3 below, the cash prize, valued at $100, will be awarded to the second top student in Bachelor of Engineering – Computer Engineering programme.
2. The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Joint Academic Committee, Computer Engineering Programme and the Board of Examiners for the Final B.Eng. (Computer Engineering) Examination.
3. No award will be made unless the Board of Undergraduate Studies is satisfied that there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
4. If in any year no award is made, the funds available will be added to the principal sum.
5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

Harvard Club Gold Medal and Prize

Donated in 1982 by the Harvard Club, the medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $10,000. In 1996, the Harvard Club donated an additional cash prize of $250.

1. The medal and prize are awarded to the best student in Business Policy and Strategy who has also excelled in the overall examination leading to the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours.
2. The awards will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
3. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

Henry Lee T L Medal & Prize in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

In 2010, Dr Helena Lee Hui Jing made an expendable gift of $20,000 to Faculty of Dentistry.

The objective of this award is to provide recognition and encouragement to the best student with distinction in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the final Masters of Dental Surgery Examination.

The award is governed by the following conditions:

1. Subject to rule 3 below, a gold medal and cash prize valued at $1,000 will be given to the best student with distinction in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the final Masters of Dental Surgery Examination with effect from AY2010/11.
2. The award will be made by the Board of Graduate Studies, on the recommendation of the Faculty’s Board of Examiners.
3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statute and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

Holttum Prize

Donated in 1975 by the Singapore Gardening Society as a tribute to Professor R. E. Holttum, first Professor of Botany of the University, and to commemorate his eightieth birthday, the Medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $2,000. In 2004, the Society decided that a book prize of $500 be awarded from the total fund in the account. The Holttum Silver Medal is renamed Holttum Prize.

The prize will be governed by the following rules:

1. Subject to there being a candidate of sufficient merit, a prize is awarded annually by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners to a candidate who -
   1. is the top graduating student who obtains a First or Second Class (Upper Division) Honours degree in Life Sciences.
   2. has distinguished himself in the study of Life Sciences in the concentration of Biology who is not awarded the Singapore Sawmiller’s Association Gold Medal
2. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

HP Asia-Pacific Prize

Donated in 1996 by Compaq Asia Pte. Ltd, a book prize is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000. In 2003, the name of the award was changed to 'HP Asia-Pacific Prize'.

The award is governed by the following conditions:

1. Subject to rule 3 below, the prize will be awarded to the best student in the Bachelor of Technology (Electronics Engineering) IV Examination.
2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
4. If no award is made in any year, the funds available will be added to the capital sum.
5. The book prize, valued at $200 will be in the form of book vouchers.
6. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

Huttons Marketing Medal and Prize

A gold medal and cash prize of S$1,250 will be awarded in each academic year. The award will be given out from the academic year AY2011/2012. The award is governed by the following conditions:

1. One medal and prize to be awarded to an undergraduate who has completed the final year of studies in the Department of Real Estate, and obtained (a) the highest mark in RE2805 Real Estate Marketing and Negotiation or RE2106 Real Estate Marketing and Negotiation; and (b) at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) for the degree of Bachelor of Science (Real Estate).
2. The medal and prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulations.
