Double Honours and the Integrated Project
Students can achieve double Honours by completing a 16 MC Integrated Honours Project, which will count towards the requirements and CAP computation of both degrees. The project will provide the best students with the opportunity of exploring the meeting points of their two disciplines. It will
be jointly supervised by faculty members from FoE and FASS.
Access to Double Honours
and the integrated Project will be limited to a small number
of students each year. Students expecting the First Class Honours degree in Economics (and therefore needing an
Honours thesis in Economics) will be encouraged to work with
faculty members from the two Schools/Faculties on possible
thesis topics/problems that are interdisciplinary in nature
which may lead to an integrated thesis. By the end of the
first semester into the final year thesis project, the Joint
Committee in consultation with the Faculty members
overseeing the project, will advise the student on whether
to complete either (i) a single integrated thesis or (ii)
the FYP for BEng(Hons) and the Honours Thesis (or three
level 4000 Economics modules in lieu, if not attempting to
obtain a First Class Honours in Economics) for BSocSci(Hons).
If an integrated thesis is undertaken, it will be coded and entitled:
XFE4401 Integrated Honours Project – for students whose home faculty is FoE
XFA4401 Integrated Honours Project – for students whose home faculty is FASS
