Types of Modules

Specifically for BSocSci (Honours) Degree

Other Requirements – GEM, Singapore Studies, Breadth & Unrestricted Electives

Some of the university requirements for Honours degree students in Economics will be met by compulsory Law modules. The law compulsory module on the LC1005 Singapore Legal System satisfies the Singapore Studies requirement. Two other perspective Law modules - LC1002 Introduction to Legal Theory and LC2001 Comparative Legal Traditions – satisfy the requirement for Breadth modules.

Students matriculated in 2006-07 and before

Students in the programme take a total of 32 modular credits of modules to meet other requirements:

  1. Singapore Studies : compulsory law module - LC1005 Singapore Legal System (4 MCs)
  2. Breadth Modules : two compulsory law modules - LC1002 Introduction to Legal Theory (4 MCs) and LC2001 Comparative Legal Traditions (4 MCs)
  3. Modules Outside the Majors - two elective modules (8 MCs) must be taken outside Economics and Law. These may be either GEMs, Singapore Studies (maximum 4 MCs) or disciplinary modules.3)
  4. Unrestricted Electives - three elective modules from any Faculty (12 MC)

Students matriculated in 2007-08 and after

Students in the programme take a total of 32 modular credits of modules to meet other requirements:

  1. Singapore Studies : compulsory law module - LC1005 Singapore Legal System (4 MCs)
  2. Breadth Modules : two compulsory law modules - LC1002 Introduction to Legal Theory (4 MCs) and LC2001 Comparative Legal Traditions (4 MCs)
  3. Unrestricted Electives : two elective modules (8 MCs) from any Faculty, must be taken outside the disciplines of Economics and Law.

FASS Faculty Requirements

FASS students are normally required to do 4 exposure modules (16 MC). Students on the program are exempted from the exposure module requirement.
