RunNUS is an annual running event organized by the NUS Students' Sports Club to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst the NUS population and the public. This year, the event is going to be held on 30 August, at NUS Sports Complex.
The Organizing Committee is looking for dedicated volunteers to help with an array of areas, for example participant registration, baggage deposits, road marshal and time-recording. This is a great way to get involved in your community, support sporting activities, meet new people and have some fun! It will be an exciting experience and one you can be proud of.

Fencing Appreciation Course 2009

Never tried fencing? Seize your chance now!
Our annual Fencing Appreciation Course (FAC) is back! If you are curious about fencing and would like to try, do sign up for one of the dates below:
18th August 2009 (Tuesday)
20th August 2009 (Thursday)

27th August 2009 (Thursday)
The courses will be conducted from 1830 to 2130 hr at MPSH6. No prior experience required! Experienced fencers are also welcome to take part in the activities.
All equipment will be provided - just come in sports attire (shirt, shoes, socks etc.)
FAC will cost $15 per person. This is a one time charge, so that means it is $15 whether you come for 1, 3 or all 4 sessions! Payment is to be made on the FAC day itself.

Lifesaving 123 & Bronze Medallion Courses

Those interested in taking lifesaving courses, the University Lifeguard Corps will be conducting the basic lifesaving course (LS123) & advanced lifesaving course(BM) for you!
The details are as follows:
Venue: NUS SRC Pool
Date: 31st August 2009 (Monday)
Time: 7pm
Course fees: $70 for LS123 & $60 for BM

Lessons are conducted every Monday and Wednesday at NUS SRC pool from 7pm to 9pm.
There will be swim proficiency sessions for those taking BM, which starts on the 17 August, 7pm at NUS SRC Pool, every mon & wed till the actual course starts... It is not compulsory that you must attend these swim proficiency sessions but it will be most helpful as u will be improving your swim techniques and speed to prepare you for the test.
LS123 is the basic lifesaving course available and it is the pre-requisite for BM. Upon attaining the BM certificate, you are eligible for lifeguard duties in Singapore and membership to our big family in NUS ULC. For further information on the course, please visit www.nuslifesaving.com

Learn to dive with us in September!

The NUS Dive Club will be organizing two trips to Pulau Aur in September so join us for some fun in the underwater sun as we take the plunge into cool ocean depths to go swimming with the fishes.
Certified divers can sign up for the leisure dives or further their diving education with the PADI Advanced Open Water course, while those who are new to the sport can learn how to dive and become certified divers with the PADI Open Water Diver course. Either way, you'll get to explore the underwater terrain of Pulau Aur in Malaysia, discover some interesting critters and some interesting people.

NUS Wushu Welcome Tea and Beginners' Course

Greetings!
NUS Wushu club will be holding our annual Welcome Tea session on 21 August 2009, Friday, 7pm at SRC, Multi-Purpose Sports Hall 2. Whether you are a freshie, returning student or staff of NUS, we welcome you to join us! Light refreshments will be provided, so you may enjoy an evening with people who share an interest in Wushu.
We will also be conducting a Beginners' Course, which begins on 24 August 2009, and stretches 7 weeks (every Monday excluding recess week). Through this course, you can expect to learn basic punches, kicks and stances. Trainings will also include exercises which will help you to develop strength, power, flexibility as well as practical self-defense skills. A one-time fee of $18 will be charged for the Beginners' Course.
As for those who already possess experience in Wushu, we welcome you to join our regular members for trainings.
